Dick's Lumber is looking for a Senior Roof Designer to join our team in Calgary, AB.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Estimate design and perform layouts and site consultations of complex roof truss systems using Mitek software.
  • Consult with Engineers, Architects, City Building Officials and Contractors on project specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers and the Sales department.
  • Performs site consultations of complex roof truss systems.
  • Coordinate Truss components with regards to receiving the plans, quoting, and designing Truss systems, creating the order, shipping the order and follow up on an individual job basis.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical College or University program in Architectural or Civil Engineering program is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of Truss Design experience is required.
  • Experience with Roof design preferably with Mitek and AutoCAD is an asset,
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural working drawings.
  • Understanding of the building code and construction market.
  • Functional math and computer skills
  • Ability to perform at a high level in a fast paced, demanding work environment
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) with excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and design skills.
  • Professional, courteous and punctual with a focus on customer service.
