POSITION SUMMARY

TNDC is seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join the Dease Lake Airport team as Snow Removal Operators for the 2025/26 winter season. As a Snow Removal Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring safe and efficient airport operations by keeping runways, taxiways, and other critical areas free of snow and ice during the winter season. You are energetic, proactive person with excellent communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the CYDL Manager(s) or designate, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate snow removal equipment, including plows, blowers, sweepers, and other machinery.
  • Clear runways, taxiways, ramps, and other airport surfaces of snow and ice.
  • Apply de-icing and anti-icing materials as needed.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Prepare working area and adhere to all job safety requirements prior to starting work.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Work in coordination with the airport operations team to prioritize snow removal activities.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating equipment.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members and airport personnel.
  • Attend daily toolbox, safety and other meetings or discussions.
  • Assist in general labour and other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Local to the Dease Lake area.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license required; must be able to provide a current driving record.
  • Experience operating equipment in snow removal
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including cold temperatures, snow, and ice.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Able to take direction, follow instructions, adapt to changing priorities and multi-task.
  • Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A team player who works respectfully and cooperatively with others.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Pass mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and fitness for work assessment.
  • The ability to repetitively lift/move up to 70 lbs. and maintain high levels of performance throughout shift.

  • Ability to maintain performance during duration of shift and extreme weather conditions.

  • Willingness to learn all airport operations and to be a team player to ensure operations run smoothly.
