POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, direction, completion, and financial outcome of construction projects across the Ontario operations.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with BMCL Leadership and Southfield Affiliates in developing market business strategies which align with and support the achievement of BMCL organizational goals and objectives
- Facilitates and/or supports development of business teaming/partnership agreements (if applicable), client contract negotiation process, and preconstruction effort for assigned projects
- Direct and control delivery of all projects of the Ontario organization to ensure their completion according to plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, and contractual agreements with a focus on leadership, development and team member retention.
- Set appropriate milestones and assign staff qualified to handle the scope and complexity of the project
- Actively recruits, supervises and manages team members in a manner that supports a healthy work environment
- Develop and implement strategies to grow and enhance Barton Malow Canada's capabilities in energy, automotive and mission critical sectors.
- Accountable for supporting strategic business development activities, formulating solutions to address client challenges while also pursuing new projects and opportunities with new and existing clients
- Responsible for working on financial forecasting for site specific jobs, and working with team on solving change orders.
- Monitor weekly financial reports for compliance with Company standards and objectives.
- Responsible for the overall leadership and execution of existing projects to ensure operations are executed in a safe, high quality and timely and cost-effective manner
- Accountable for supporting and executing of the annual business plan for Barton Malow Canada
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
10-15+ years of construction management experience for a large-scale general contractor, including 5+ years in senior leadership delivering multi-project portfolios.Experience leading multiple successful teams simultaneously including development of direct reports and maintaining relationships with external entities.Demonstrated ability to manage the operational and financial performance of a business unit.Strong connections, relationships and professional presence in the industry with clients.Strong communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, public officials, team, peers and the public.Experience in assessing and negotiating contracts and subcontracts.Leadership and management skills with a strategic mindset and problem-solving ability.Fluent in financial forecasting, revenue projections, business development plans, successful track record executing against financial targets.Ability to travel as needed - estimated at 25% to 40%Barton Malow Canada is an equal opportunity employer, fostering diversity, inclusion and belonging within our organization.
