As an
Environmental Technician,
you will join our
Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta
office(s) as part of our Vegetation & Soils team for a
4- or 8-month term
starting
May 2026
. The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
- Active participation in maintaining Montrose's strong safety culture
- Travel, often to remote locations, will be required to carry out field programs
- Conducting standardized vegetation/weed identification and applying weed control
- Assisting with various tasks, including but not limited to field preparation, safety documentation, execution of field work, and data management
- Working cooperatively with technical, health and safety, GIS, and administrative colleagues to successfully deliver our products
- Assisting Project Managers and administrative staff with various tasks as they arise
- Assist with other service line projects when needed
- Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to: data collection; preparing and submitting ground disturbance requests; hazard assessments; sample processing and delivery; and contributing to field reports
What We Are Looking For
- Working towards a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institute
- An absolute, and genuine dedication to safe work
- Familiarity with construction operations on pipeline rights-of-way or in mining environments and understanding of safety culture
- Ability to be productive while working independently as well as in a team setting
- Physical capacity for strenuous fieldwork, including walking long distances through rough terrain
- Results-oriented and efficient, with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an affinity for working respectfully with colleagues and clients at all levels
- Proficient with computers and software, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (at least an intermediate level of proficiency)
- Comfortable using advanced GPS units or tablets
- Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License, with clean drivers abstract, able to travel throughout the provinces and work weekends when necessary

This is a seasonal position with an hourly rate range of $23.00-$32.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
