Job Summary
Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.
The Parliamentary Education Office is seeking two organized, flexible and motivated individuals for the auxiliary as-and-when position of Tour Guide Team Lead (Team Lead). Applicants must be available and legally eligible to work full-time hours for the entire employment term. The position supports visitor operations seven days per week, and workdays may vary. Candidates should be prepared to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
Reporting to the Parliamentary Tour Officer, the Team Lead oversees weekend and statutory holiday operations of the Tour Program, including the supervision of Tour Guides and Parliamentary Players (Tour Team). The Team Lead delivers engaging and educational tours of the B.C. Parliament Buildings, highlighting provincial and national history, parliamentary processes, and architectural features. The Team Lead adapts tours to meet the needs of diverse audiences and spends significant time outdoors welcoming visitors and supporting a positive public experience.
Qualifications
Applicants must be/have:
- Post-secondary education in a related program, plus previous experience as a Legislative Assembly Tour Guide and/or Parliamentary Player.
- Experience in public speaking before large audiences and/or school groups.
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience working in a supervisory capacity.
- Fluency in a second language.
