Sparkling Hill Resort is a high end 149 room hotel with a European designed 40,000 sq. ft. spa with 7 unique saunas, 3 saltwater pools, and a cryotherapy chamber that operates at -110°C. The Hotel operates on a geothermal system with individual guest room heat pumps and larger HVAC units for common areas. The hotel environment is fast paced with continually changing dynamics. The maintenance department uses a CMMS system (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to incorporate a quick response to guest demands, event setups and preventative maintenance. Ninety percent of the workload is on building and equipment Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules, repairs and upgrades.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for performing general building and property maintenance. Maintain HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment. Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department. They are also responsible for performing high diversified duties within a hotel environment to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the hotel's business goals and objective.

Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of facility equipment and perform scheduled maintenance repairs
  • Perform mechanic skills, including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and additional troubleshooting
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to explain/perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facility facilities
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for projects
  • Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the maintenance department
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Assist in the orientation and training of staff
  • Complete all necessary reports and records related to the department as required
  • Operate grounds-keeping power equipment and ensure external property is maintained
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and systems
  • Keep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly
  • Maintain inventory of new equipment, manuals and warranties
  • Operate computerized preventative maintenance program
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain various electrical components, appliances and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes and departmental procedures
  • Perform/understand mechanical preventative maintenance work on equipment as per preventative maintenance manual (circulating pumps, refrigeration etc.)
  • Initiate safety concerns and make judgement on the best methods of completing tasks
  • Responsible for short-term planning and keeping appropriate managers aware of decisions being made
  • Positively mentor maintenance staff
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and Maintenance Coordination experience
  • A degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred
  • Previous experience in a similar environment preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a reliable vehicle
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets

Work Conditions:

  • 24/7 availability may be required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75lbs
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
