Position Overview:
Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk (full-time, permanent) to support the Finance department based out of our Edmonton, AB office. This position is a true Accounts Payable Clerk role, suited for candidates who enjoy Accounts Payable work and are looking to continue building depth and expertise in this area.

The Accounts Payable Clerk (full-time, permanent) is responsible for processing and maintaining vendor invoices and payments with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills who can identify and resolve discrepancies, maintain positive vendor relationships, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
  • Receive, review, verify, and process invoices accurately and timely
  • Resolve discrepancies between invoices, POs, and receipts
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in the accounting system
  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve payment issues
  • Assist with month-end closing and accruals related to accounts payable
  • Support with monitoring AP inbox and distribute invoices along with related e-mails accordingly
  • Gain a solid understanding of Forbes expense coding to identify transactional errors
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date accounts payable files and documentation
  • Other accounts payable related functions assigned

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, is required
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in an accounts payable function, is required
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and computerized accounting systems, is required
  • Experience or exposure working with foreign currencies, an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, IF Functions)
  • Knowledge of Viewpoint/Trimble systems, an asset
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Able and willing to work extended hours of work as required to meet various deadlines as needed
