Who we are looking for:

Wabasca Desmarais Housing Authority/Keekenow Senior Facility is looking for an experienced Social Worker who will assist residents in supportive and assisted living and their families with physical, emotional, social and mental health needs. The Social Worker will coordinate resources for residents in accordance with policies, procedures, standards and regulations. The incumbent will be expected to incorporate indigenous culture into their practice by being respectful, by developing ongoing relationship-building, and being culturally responsive within the workplace and in the community.

Some Key Duties:

  • Provide psychosocial support to residents and families.
  • Conduct resident and/or caregiver support groups.
  • Help residents adapt to transitions, grief and loss, and other challenges.
  • Provide specialized supports to residents living with dementia.
  • Support residents and family members with navigation of services including connecting with resources, filling out applications, and advocating for financial wellbeing, etc.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum two-year Social Work Diploma.
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degrees are considered an asset.
  • Valid social work license or registration as required by the Province of Alberta.
  • Minimum 3 years of social work experience in a health care setting or social service agency.
  • Speaking and understanding the Cree language is a preferred asset.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $40.00 per hour
