Accounting Specialist

We're hiring a Accounting Specialist who understands the financial realities of home services, construction, and blue-collar businesses. This role goes far beyond basic bookkeeping—you'll be responsible for job-based accounting, job costing, and leveraging modern accounting technology to support smart business decisions.

What You'll Do

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping including AP, AR, reconciliations, and general ledger
  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
  • Support month-end and year-end close
  • Ensure clean, reliable financial data for ownership and management

Job Costing & Project Accounting

  • Track and analyze job costs including labor, materials, overhead, and subcontractors
  • Manage job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), and cost of completion / percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Understand and account for holdbacks/retentions common in construction and trade work
  • Monitor job profitability and identify variances

Technology & Systems

  • Work within and optimize modern accounting and operations platforms, including:
  • Dext
  • Plooto
  • ServiceTitan
  • Jobber
  • Housecall Pro
  • Ensure accurate integration between operational systems and accounting software (QuickBooks Online or similar)
  • Improve workflows, automation, and internal controls

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Manage vendor payments, approvals, and cash disbursements
  • Oversee customer invoicing, collections, aging, and holdback tracking
  • Assist with cash flow planning and reporting

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Direct experience with home services, construction, or blue-collar industries
  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, holdbacks/retentions, and cost of completion
  • High proficiency with cloud-based accounting and operations technology
  • Experience with service management platforms (ServiceTitan, Jobber, Housecall Pro, or similar)
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Construction or trade-specific accounting background
  • QuickBooks Online certification
  • Experience supporting growing or multi-location service businesses
  • Process improvement or systems implementation experience
