Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety to support our restaurant or healthcare facility. This role involves preparing ingredients, assisting with meal assembly, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and food quality. The Prep Cook will play a vital role in delivering delicious, nutritious meals efficiently and safely to our customers or residents.

Duties

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, peeling, and measuring according to recipes and menu requirements
  • Assist in menu planning and portioning to ensure consistency and quality
  • Support cooking processes by following established procedures for food handling and safety standards
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in compliance with health regulations
  • Assist with food presentation and plating as needed for meal service or catering events
  • Ensure proper storage of ingredients and leftovers according to safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service times
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper knife skills and sanitation procedures

Skills

  • Proven experience in dietary department, dietary aide roles, or restaurant kitchens
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food handling safety standards
  • Ability to plan menus and prepare meals efficiently under supervision
  • Excellent knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation tasks
  • Familiarity with catering services, serving procedures, and food industry best practices
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team with culinary staff
