Job Description:

Sabtronics is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Network/Telecommunications Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Network/Telecommunications Technician at Sabtronics, you will play a crucial role in the Design, Installation, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting of Network Migration Patch Panels, working with DC Network and Power Systems - Switches and Routers, Rack Mount Equipment, Networking Routing, Cabling Intelligence/Telecommunication Systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission of providing the Best Quality of service to our customers while maintaining the Highest Standards of Quality in the rapidly changing Network and Telecommunications Industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation and Maintenance:

  • Perform installation of both inside and outside cabling and physical network installation. Running, pulling, Terminating and Splicing cables.
  • Pulling, Terminating and Testing Cat5e/6/6a/8 Cables, Coax, and Fiber Optic Cables.
  • Pull and Fish cable through conduit, ceilings, walls and drop ceilings.
  • Installing Telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, programming features.
  • Installing other cabling infrastructure (Racks, Cabinets, etc.)

2. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to client services.

3. Quality Assurance: Adhere to the highest standards of quality in all aspects of work, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

4. Health and Safety: Prioritize and follow health and safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Proven 2+ experience as a Network/Telecommunications Technician or in a similar role. Knowledge of DC Network and Power Systems as well as Telecommunication Systems, equipment, and protocols.
  • Equipment Handling: Utilize expertise in working with Fiber Optic and Cable Testers, etc. Experience with required tools and equipment (drills, wire cutters, cable compression tool, etc.)
  • Confined Space Work: Demonstrate proficiency in working in challenging environments inside and outside such as manholes and confined spaces.
  • Electrical Understanding: Possess knowledge of AC and DC Power systems to ensure seamless integration with Network and Telecommunication Installations.
  • Network Cable/Coax/Fiber Optic Placement: ISP and OSP cable installation - all year round.
  • Bucket Trucks/Vans/Scissor Lifts: Operate and maintain proficiency in the use of Bucket Trucks and Bucket Vans for elevated installations. Scissor Lift / Boom Lifts.
  • Working at Heights: Comfortable with Ladder work and Mobile Elevated Platforms

  • Collaborate effectively within a team and work independently, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and mapping software.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Must have a keen attention to detail.
  • Apply common sense when trouble shooting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Very physical job which includes climbing and working off of ladders, lifting, and not only working outdoors in varying weather conditions, but also indoors within Business and Commercial settings.
  • Mechanically inclined and proficient with various hand tools.

Driver's License and Clean Record:

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Clean driving record.

Screening Requirements:

  • Successful applicants are required to complete a clear driver's abstract and criminal background screening.

Work Location: Travel Requirements:

  • Primarily Saskatoon with out-of-town work and travel
  • Must be flexible and willing to work out of town on overnight trips, covering various locations across the Province of Saskatchewan.
  • Will be required to work out of town (approx. 25% of the time)

Supplemental Pay Types:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Secondary School for Network and Telecommunications Technician Training or similar. Not Required but is definitely an asset.

Certifications and Assets:

  • Possess or be willing to obtain Aerial Certifications, with a preference for Fall Arrest certification for Aerial work.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification considered an asset.
  • Confined Spaces Training and Certification considered an asset.
  • CFOT Certification is considered an asset.

Language:

  • English (required)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (required)
