As Staff Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations and the month-end close across the Kroeker Farms group of companies. Working closely with the Assistant Controller, you'll gain hands-on experience within a fast-growing organization and the opportunity to build a strong accounting foundation. It's an excellent position for someone eager to learn, contribute, and grow within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Assistant Controller in executing day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for bank accounts, prepaids, accruals, inventory, long-term debt, and other key financial statement areas.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for fixed assets and capital projects, including purchase orders, acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Perform accounting and financial reporting for small corporations, including bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, GST filings, and financial statements.
  • Support job costing for field operations, ensuring accurate cost allocation and tracking.
  • Contribute to improving accounting processes, documenting procedures, and supporting internal controls to ensure consistency and accuracy, under the guidance of the Assistant Controller.
  • Assist with the preparation of GST, PST, and other tax filings.
  • Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for management and other stakeholders.

  • Previous bookkeeping and/or private or public accounting experience. Support will be provided for candidates interested in or actively pursuing CPA candidacy.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work efficiently with large datasets.
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and solve problems.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Adaptable to change in a growing organization with evolving systems and processes.
  • Someone who is ethical, trustworthy, and committed to confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset.

This is a full-time position, located at our Head Office in Winkler, MB.
