PrePost Natal and Nutritional Worker
Full-Time, Indeterminate

It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to broadly provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. TI has over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services. By incorporating the principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ), TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.
The PrePost Natal and Nutritional Worker plans, coordinates and implements the Pre/Post Natal programming and related services to the community, utilizing a team‐based approach. This includes supporting early learning opportunities for families with infants (0-18 months) through culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate programming based on Innunguiniq, How does learning Happen? (HDLH) and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ).
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating of all aspects of the Pre/Post Natal program, including the establishment of annual objectives and work plans in keeping with Inuit culture, language and traditions.
- Facilitate play-based early learning activities and drop-in sessions for caregivers with infants 0-18 months, promoting bonding and age-appropriate development.
- Provide culturally safe and trauma-informed emotional support to participants, offering referrals to appropriate community or health services when needed.
- Develop and deliver workshops on prenatal health, infant development, parenting, and nutrition responsive to family needs.
- Support family engagement through outreach, community connections, and wrap-around supports with TI departments and partners.
- Maintain accurate participant records, attendance, and program data, prepare reports as required by funders.
- Support food purchasing, preparation, and distribution for group sessions.
- Participate in team meetings, reflective supervision, and professional learning related to early years, maternal health, and Inuit cultural knowledge
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of Inuit culture, values, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and traditional healing methods and practices.
Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, video-conferencing platforms and electronic records management applications is required. Clear Vulnerable Sector Check with results acceptable to TI is required. Ability to speak Inuktitut is preferred. Driver's license is preferred. Ability to work evening and weekends as required.Community College Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Social Work, Family Studies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. RECE is preferred.
Three years' experience delivering family or early years programs, ideally in Indigenous or community settings is preferred. Two years' experience working directly with infants (0-18months) and their caregivers in a playgroup or early years environment and with prenatal and postnatal support and group facilitation is required.
Knowledge of Pre/Post Natal care, sound understanding of infant and child development (0-18 months). Familiarity with How does learning Happen? (HDLH) and trauma-informed practice. Knowledge of food preparation and proper nutrition and ability to function effectively in a busy environment and in stressful situations. Familiarity with issues facing Inuit families and ability to develop and deliver programming. Motivated and able to work independently, outstanding organizational skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to a client‐centered and culturally safe approach.

Salary and Benefits· Salary range is $47,000 to $50,000 annually
