Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this leader is directly accountable for connecting organizational and departmental strategy to meaningful work for the team, and by delivering the outcomes and results required of a modern Credit Union. This role's focus is leading the income and excise tax compliance, analysis, and reporting for the Credit Union

What You'll Be Doing

  • Responsible for all income and excise tax filings and communication; acts as the contact for matters relating to the CRA.
  • Oversees the calculation and reporting of all credit union and subsidiary monthly tax accruals, quarterly tax provisions, income tax returns, GST returns, and deferred tax calculations.
  • Research advanced tax and/or accounting issues and transactions then communicate the impacts to the business and document the details in a position paper or memo.
  • Understand overall operations of the business and how transactions impact the company's tax position.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, B. Comm or equivalent.
  • Active Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Income Tax Act.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS, Excise Tax, and Credit Union Act
  • 2-5 years of progressively senior positions in corporate tax.
