Calgary AB TK W, Canada Cedrone Inc Full time

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Behavioural Aide/Therapy Assistant to support a child with ADHD, sensory processing differences, executive functioning challenges, and a history of trauma. The ideal candidate brings a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and strength-based approach, and is comfortable assisting with behavioural support, regulation strategies, daily routines, and structured therapy-based activities designed by the child's clinical team. The candidate must be able to reliably follow directions. Note, this position is in a private home and not for a company.

Key Responsibilities

1. Behavioural & Daily Support

  • Provide one-to-one behavioural support in the home and community.
  • Assist with daily routines, transitions, organization, and task initiation.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, self-advocacy, and executive functioning (planning, sequencing, focus, working memory).
  • Facilitate movement breaks (without use of screens), sensory regulation activities, and calming strategies tailored to the child's needs.
  • Support social-emotional learning, communication, and confidence-building.

2. Therapy Support

  • Carry out therapy activities and home-program exercises provided by:
  • Occupational therapist (OT)
  • Physiotherapist (PT)
  • Psychologist or behavioural therapist
  • Other clinical providers
  • Ensure consistency in delivering therapeutic strategies across sessions.
  • Observe and track the child's responses, triggers, sensory needs, and progress.
  • Provide feedback to the parent and therapists to help refine programming.

3. Transportation & Appointment Support

  • Attend appointments with the child as required.
  • Occasional travel outside Calgary for specialized appointments may be required (mileage reimbursed).

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with ADHD, sensory processing differences, executive functioning challenges, or similar neurodevelopmental needs.
  • Training or demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care.
  • Experience following clinical or therapy-based programs (OT, PT, psychology, SLP, behavioural therapy).
  • Background in psychology, social work, education, child development, kinesiology, or related fields (formal education an asset but not required).
  • Ability to stay calm, emotionally attuned, and flexible during dysregulation.
  • Knowledge of sensory regulation strategies, movement breaks, and co-regulation techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and a gentle, patient, consistent approach.
  • Must be reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Current CPR/First Aid and recent Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).

Personal Attributes

  • Warm, grounded, and attuned to the needs of neurodivergent children.
  • Emotionally regulated and able to provide co-regulation.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to anticipate triggers or needs.
  • Creative with strategies and capable of adapting on the fly.
  • Comfortable implementing therapy strategies with fidelity.
  • Respectful of family values and the child's dignity, autonomy, and lived experience.
  • Comfortable around pets.

Additional Information

  • Training from current therapists will be provided to ensure consistency.
  • Compensation will be based on experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week

Application question(s):

  • Can you describe your experience supporting children with ADHD, sensory processing differences, or trauma-related behaviours? What specific strategies have you used that worked well?
  • This role requires staying calm, patient, and attuned during dysregulation or sensory overload. How do you regulate yourself in challenging moments, and what is your approach to co-regulation with a child?
  • Tell me about a time you had to follow a detailed plan or set of instructions for a child's care or therapy. How did you ensure you followed the plan exactly as given?
  • What would you do if you personally disagreed with a strategy a therapist asked you to use — for example, a visual schedule or routine that you don't prefer?
