If you're a versatile, multi-talented, and self-driven communicator who thrives in dynamic environments, this role is built for you. We're looking for someone who can seamlessly blend creative storytelling, strategic thinking, and on-the-ground relationship building to champion Victoria Park's growth and identity.
We're looking for a communications professional who can write, plan, promote events, manage our website and member database, and engage audiences through social media. You will shape your own communications program and make it shine while also building strong, in-person relationships with our community.
The Victoria Park BIA also produces what currently is the largest light/art festival in Calgary – Night Light. Because our work spans many areas, experience with large events, fund development, and working with artists is considered an asset.
This is a full-time position with a comfortable and safe work environment, huge potential to both learn and contribute, and a very real opportunity to build and then own the communications and marketing program. Please note that this position will require you to physically be in the area at least 60% of the time and during non-standard working hours (can't talk about our nightlife if you're not out at night, right?). This is not a standard 9 to 5 position, so it is ideal for candidates already based in Calgary.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experienced (3–5 years) in communications, marketing, or a related field
- Great comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work independently and interdependently.
- The usual communications craft skills in writing, editing, research, planning, web and social media.
- Refined juggling abilities. Many tasks, many priorities.
- Great comfort with the technical tools in Microsoft Office, Adobe and simple website updates and maintenance (Drupal and Webflow).
- Bonus points for: graphic design, event experience, IABC/CPRS membership, or arts-sector familiarity.
