Compensation:
$57 per hour.

Regular Work Hours:
7.0 hours per day not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).

Work Location:
Hybrid - combination of 1-2 days remote-based and 3-4 days onsite at client's downtown Toronto office on PATH and near TTC station. Possibility of transition to 100% onsite (5 days per week) later in the assignment. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business need.

AVP, Finance.

Responsibilities Summary:

Provide expert level finance operations, advisory, and project implementation services across the areas of Budgeting and Reporting, Financial Processing, Financial Reporting, Financial Information Systems (FIS) Implementation, and Financial Operational Efficiencies. Will support effective execution, maintenance and enhancement of financial management and analysis, reporting, and treasury functions of Finance Department for regulatory organization's IT Systems Office, including leading internally or externally focused project teams as required.

  • Lead development of annual budget in alignment with strategic priorities. Assist with multi-year financial projections and budget package, for reporting to Systems Governance Board.
  • Build high quality financial models with scenario and sensitivity planning, working collaboratively with Management to understand budgetary variances, and proactively assess and evaluate financial opportunities and risks.
  • Provide assurance over financial reporting through design and maintenance of effective controls. Prepare draft analysis and Board reports for AVP Finance's review.
  • Identify and drive business improvement opportunities. Develop and implement toolsets and reports to support business needs. Lead designated project teams, both internal and external.
  • Develop financial KPI's. Determine which projects meet thresholds for project accounting, and monitor and explain variances of various projects, using financial system and reporting tools to explain financial performance of core regulatory and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide effective financial processing services for Finance Department, including guidance and support to AP and AR staff. Support month-end closing procedures, review and post invoices, and prepare journal entries, preliminary financial reports and reconciliation schedules.
  • Update or create integration methods to automate data capture in FIS Financial Processing. Act as sign-off accountant for all systems development impacting financials and cash.
  • Support implementation of Workday ERP including adaptive planning. Support process mapping of Workday processes.
  • Develop training materials and support the delivery of staff training sessions.
  • Additional corporate accounting, financial analysis and reporting and FIS responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Education:
Undergraduate Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.

Professional Credentials:
CPA designation in good standing with CPA Ontario or working towards CPA designation.

Preferred Work Experience:
At least 7+ years direct experience in an accounting, auditing or finance role, with demonstrated experience dealing with finance systems developments and implementations.

Preferred Sector Experience:
Regulatory organization or Board-governed organization experience an asset.

Leadership Experience and Skills:
Demonstrated experience providing oversight, training and support to financial staff.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency in MSExcel (will be tested).
  • Strong proficiency in Word and PowerPoint (may be tested).
  • Demonstrated experience with FIS systems and software, such as SAAS applications for expense management.
  • Experience with WorkDay ERP an asset.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, including advanced level business writing skills, and verbal presentation skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences including senior leadership.

  • Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
  • Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Must be available for an anticipated long-term and/or permanent full time commitment, based out of downtown Toronto.
  • Must be available for multiple rounds of interviews, starting the week of January 5th.
  • Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies. Must be available to work 100% onsite upon request.
  • Ability to promptly provide 3 recent, qualified employment references from managers or supervisors upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client. References will likely be requested at the second interview stage.
  • Ability to complete a satisfactory security check, including a Fingerprint Check, prior to assignment start. Please note that Marberg will reimburse for the cost of the security checks upon confirmation of assignment start and submission of approved expense receipts.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Additional satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, Interpersonal Skills Assessment, and Employment References as required.
