Term Length: 4 months

The pay range for the co-op student role will reflect factors such as the candidate's experience, academic level, and the specific skillset required for the role.

Loblaw has adopted the following hybrid working model (a combination of working between the office and remotely). Colleagues can work remotely up to 1 day a week, while spending the other 4 days in the office (to be determined by each business unit).

Role mandate:
As a Food Safety & White label Summer Student, you will contribute to vital projects focused on modernizing our food safety program across retail and supply chain, as well as supporting our White Label brands. This unique opportunity to practical experience and deep insight into critical food safety operations within the dynamic grocery industry.

Key Activities and learning opportunities:
Working across the Retail Food Safety, Supply Chain Food Safety and White Label teams you will:

  • Modernize Digital Food Safety Documents: Review and update our current on-line Food Safety documents (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Sanitation Procedures SSOP's)) to enhance clarity, user-friendliness, and accessibility. This includes adapting content for optimal viewing on mobile devices (phones and tablets) and integrating QR codes to link to supplementary video resources where applicable.
  • Retail White Label Recipe Cards: Assess Retail Recipe Cards withing our White Label program, verifying the accuracy of shelf-life information and food safety guidance, and identifying areas that require updating to align with current company standards.
  • Support Ad-Hoc Projects: Provide support on other Food Safety and White Label initiatives as needed, offering exposure to a broader range of projects.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Academic Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Food Science or related field.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office Suite, familiarity with Adobe applications (e.g., Acrobat).
  • Language Skills: Fluency in French (an asset).
  • Organizational Acumen: Strong attention to detail and a keen interest in project coordination and process improvement.
