FACILITY OPERATOR (FLOATER)
(1 Existing Temporary full-time - 4 Month Contract - January to April 2026)

INTERNAL / EXTERNAL POSTING
The Town of Wasaga Beach
is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual to join our team as a
Facility Operator for a four (4) month term
. This position involves working at various Town facilities, including the RecPlex, Wasaga Stars Arena, and other municipal buildings and grounds.

As a Facility Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring our facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained for residents and visitors. Reporting to the Facilities Foreperson, you will perform a variety of duties related to facility operations, maintenance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate ice surfaces, ice resurfacing machines, and refrigeration systems,
  • Perform janitorial and maintenance tasks, including cleaning floors, walls, showers, change rooms, washrooms, fixtures, and furniture,
  • Conduct outdoor duties such as walkway sweeping and snow removal,
  • Assist with event set-up and clean-up,
  • Complete administrative tasks, including equipment service logs and record keeping,
  • Inspect HVAC systems and emergency equipment,
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally,
  • Ensure compliance with all security measures, policies, and health and safety procedures,
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent,
  • Valid, unrestricted Class G2 Ontario Driver's License (minimum),
  • Previous experience in facility maintenance, repairs, and janitorial duties,
  • Physically capable of performing all duties, including heavy lifting and working indoors/outdoors in all conditions,
  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures for power tools and facility maintenance equipment,
  • Strong organizational, communication and decision-making skills,
  • Standard First Aid, CPR, Defibrillator, and ORFA training considered an asset,
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) upon hire,
  • Proven ability to interact with the public and staff in a courteous and efficient manner

NOTE:
Subject to 2026 Budget Approval and CUPE Local 3115 Collective Agreement

Hourly Rate:
$ Rate - 40 hours per week)
