IT Deskside Services, Summer Student

Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

With our expanded pipeline system now in place, Trans Mountain provides enhanced direct access for Canadian crude oil to world markets. As an I.T. Deskside Services - Summer Student with Trans Mountain, you'll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced group of Information Technology experts.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to give a holistic view of what it takes to operate effective technical support, and they can expect to learn and be exposed to several different technologies.

This position is based in our Calgary office and reports to the Team Lead, Client Services.

Duration: May 4, 2026, to August 21, 2026. 

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the coordination and preparation of replacement technology to address the need for Hardware lifecycle management of end user devices.Ensure Desktop imaging and patching is completed and tested within the prescribed documentation.Build and deploy new user devices as needed for the onboarding process and lifecycle refresh.Assist with troubleshooting Network issues such as WIFI connection problems, cabling issues, field site connectivity problems and basic port configuration.Collaborate with internal IT staff including Infrastructure, Information Security, and Applications teams.Engage with business users and internal stakeholders to coordinate device replacement and troubleshooting, while delivering great user experience.Manage workloads through centralized IT service management system (ServiceNow).Perform asset management functions to track the inflow and outflow of IT hardware.Assist with other team functions and provide support as necessary.Assist with offboarding procedures to retrieve hardware and place back into inventory.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

Enrolled in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems program with an accredited institution, with at least one year of study completed.Strong interest in IT operations as a future career path.Working knowledge of IT Infrastructure and Network systems.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.Must be a team player with a positive attitude.Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.Attention to detail is critical.Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.Strong organizational skills.Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.

Other Requirements and Information

Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution and return to full time studies in the fall.This role is full time in office, and requires on-site attendance for the duration of the summer term.

The expected pay range for this position is $24.61 to $33.48 CAD.
