Summary

We are looking for a competent Sound Engineer to record, mix and edit music and audio for our music school and recording studio located at Yonge and Dundas including our student concert on December 6th 2025. You will set up and operate sound equipment for live events, concerts and recordings or post-productions to ensure the best acoustic result.

We expect you to be extremely knowledgeable about studio DAWs, outboard gear, microphones employing different audio recording and editing techniques to produce great quality sound. If you work well with a team, possessing a creative mind and a good ear we'd like to hear from you.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Follow instructions and details from school director, band leaders, producers etc
  • Set up and test sound equipment before events, broadcasts or recordings
  • Record, edit and mix audio tracks (instruments, vocals etc.)
  • Enhance sound quality and add sound effects to recordings
  • Work with video editors to synchronise video with audio tracks
  • Resolve technical issues when they arise
  • Must be able to work weekday afternoons, evenings and weekends

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience as recording engineer
  • Technical expertise in sound engineering techniques (e.g. equalisation)
  • Experience with sound editing and recording equipment (e.g. mixing consoles)
  • Working knowledge of recording software and hardware (e.g. Pro Tools)
  • A team player with excellent communication skills
  • Creativity and attention to detail
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent hearing and manual dexterity
  • Post-Secondary diploma; At least 2 years experience
  • Outgoing and confident teaching adults in private recording and mixing lessons and classes

Preferred Skills

  • The ability to read music and play an instrument or multiple instruments
  • Ability to teach online and have a quality at home set up to teach through zoom when necessary.
