About the role

Reporting to the VP of Corporate IT, the Director, Enterprise Application Architecture is responsible for defining and executing the architectural vision that underpins Kinaxis' enterprise business systems. This strategic leadership role focuses on application architecture, integration frameworks, and AI-enabled business solutions that drive digital transformation, operational excellence, and scalability.

The successful candidate will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on architecture leader, with a proven ability to translate business objectives into coherent, secure, and sustainable technology designs. They will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, ensuring that technology investments align with enterprise priorities and deliver measurable business outcomes.

What you will do

Strategic Architecture Leadership

  • Define and lead the enterprise application architecture strategy to align technology capabilities with business priorities and long-term objectives.
  • Develop and maintain reference architectures, standards, and roadmaps that promote consistency, interoperability, and modernization across business applications.
  • Drive the adoption of AI and automation technologies within enterprise applications to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and user experience.
  • Partner with IT and business leaders to evolve Kinaxis' application portfolio, optimizing system integration, reducing redundancy, and improving agility.
  • Establish governance processes to ensure architecture alignment, manage technical debt, and guide major technology investment decisions.

Application and Integration Architecture

  • Lead the design, modernization, and rationalization of core business applications (ERP, CRM, HRIS, finance, etc.), emphasizing modularity, interoperability, and scalability.
  • Partner with Data and Product Architecture teams to define integration standards that connect systems and support analytics, AI, and automation initiatives.

AI and Intelligent Systems Enablement

  • Guide the integration of AI and machine learning capabilities into business applications, ensuring responsible and secure implementation.
  • Collaborate with data science and AI enablement teams to architect intelligent workflows, and AI-driven business insights.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI-enabled tools and applications for enhanced user productivity, process optimization, and innovation.

Collaboration and Governance

  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure, and Data teams to maintain architectural integrity, consistency, and resilience across enterprise systems.
  • Act as a trusted architecture advisor for program and project governance, ensuring solutions are technically sound, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Engage with technology vendors to assess emerging trends and capabilities that can advance Kinaxis' architecture strategy.
  • Mentor and develop a team of architects and solution leaders to strengthen organizational capability in enterprise and application architecture disciplines.
What we are looking for

Primary Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise or application architecture, with a strong background in large-scale business application ecosystems.
  • 5+ years of experience in global leadership roles driving architecture, modernization, and integration initiatives.
  • Experience designing and implementing AI-enabled enterprise applications is strongly preferred.
  • Strategic and conceptual thinker with the ability to connect technology strategy to business value.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise application architecture, integration patterns, and modern application development practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and governing architecture standards, principles, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of security and compliance as applied to enterprise systems and integrations.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to bridge business and technical audiences effectively.

Role Specific Skills and Experience

  • Expertise in modern architecture patterns: microservices, event-driven design, API management, and service orchestration.
  • Familiarity with AI architecture concepts, including intelligent automation, model orchestration, and data-driven decisioning.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and tools (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, LeanIX).
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder engagement, and change management capabilities.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on simplification and innovation.
