Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team in Downtown Toronto. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in assisted living environments, nursing homes, and private residences. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities by delivering personalized care and assistance.

Duties

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in health status.
  • Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety of clients at all times.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and social interaction.
  • Document care provided and report any concerns or changes in client condition to the supervising nurse or healthcare professional.

Skills

  • Experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of senior care practices and working with people with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with dementia care techniques is an asset.
  • Proficient in medication administration and understanding of related protocols.
  • Strong caregiving skills with a patient and empathetic approach to client interactions.
  • Ability to perform cleaning tasks effectively while maintaining a hygienic environment.
  • Competence in meal preparation that meets nutritional needs of clients.
