We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Richland Academy. This role supports the school's mission by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors. The custodian will focus on cleaning and maintenance tasks in classrooms, washrooms, hallways, common areas, and outdoor spaces.

This job reports to the Campus Manager

Responsibilities

Cleaning & Maintenance:

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize floors and carpets.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins, and ensure proper disposal.
  • Dust and clean surfaces, including desks, shelves, windows, and whiteboards.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures.
  • Refill supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper as needed.
  • Painting and furniture assembly.

Safety & Security:

  • Lock and secure classrooms and common areas at the end of the shift.
  • Report any safety hazards, damage, or maintenance issues to the Campus Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist with setup and cleanup for after-school events as needed.
  • Perform outdoor maintenance (as required) such as sweeping walkways or snow removal.
  • Respond to emergencies or special requests promptly.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in custodial or maintenance work is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

Schedule:

  • Weekdays, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Occasional flexibility for school events.

Compensation:

$25.50/hr plus 4% vacation pay
