Are you passionate about building technology that powers a global delivery network? Our Logistics Engineering department is at the heart of the Just Eat experience, responsible for the entire delivery lifecycle of millions of orders and supporting our vast network of couriers.

The Courier Onboarding team plays a critical role in this mission.  Courier Onboarding is the front-door for new applicants around the globe interested in joining JET's contractor-model courier network.  These first experiences we provide to prospective couriers are crucial to guide them through the onboarding process and start delivering as a part of JET's courier network.

As a key member of our team, you'll be instrumental in developing new product features and maintaining essential services. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact, building the tools and systems that keep our platform running smoothly and help deliver a great experience for all.

• Develop and maintain high-quality code for new features and existing products, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and performant.
• Conduct thorough code reviews to uphold high standards for code quality, design, and adherence to best practices.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and technical planning, helping to shape the future of our systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (like product managers and other developers) to understand requirements and deliver cohesive, effective solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to ensure the stability and reliability of our services.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in the Java and backend development ecosystems.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement within the codebase and development processes.
• Write and execute unit tests to ensure the quality and reliability of developed features.
• Contribute to the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring a smooth and automated deployment process.

• At least 3-5 years of experience developing robust backend applications using Java 8+. Knowledge of the Quarkus framework is a plus. 
• Strong experience of at least 3 years designing and implementing microservices architectures and RESTful APIs. 
• Experience with relational databases and experience with data persistence, caching, query optimization and data modelling. NoSql Database is a plus.
• Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including Object-Oriented Programming, common design patterns, data structures, and testing methodologies.
• Exceptional ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues in a distributed system environment.
• A proactive approach to identifying potential issues and opportunities, with a knack for analytical thinking.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and other developers.
• Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, handling new challenges with a positive and resilient attitude.
• A humble, inquisitive approach to problem-solving, with a strong willingness to learn from and contribute to the team.
• Eagerness to stay current with new technologies and best practices within the Java and backend development ecosystems.
• Experience with front-end development and React, or collaborating with front-end engineers would be an asset.
