POSITION SUMMARY:

Through the Social Planning and Research Council of Hamilton (SPRC Hamilton), Tastebuds, Hamilton's Student Nutrition Collaborative, the Community Development Worker is responsible for providing support to a caseload of student nutrition programs, assisting with menu development (ensuring adherence to Ministry of Child and Youth Services Nutrition Guidelines), volunteer recruitment, fundraising, reporting, budgeting, and social media promotion.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist student nutrition programs with menu development (ensuring adherence to Ministry of Child and Youth Services Nutrition Guidelines), volunteer recruitment, fundraising, reporting, and budgeting
  • Attend to the needs of program volunteers with training opportunities related to programming
  • Attend necessary training sessions and workshops
  • Be an ambassador for student nutrition programs, presenting to school and community groups as required

  • Any other related duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and oral)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, meeting monthly reporting timelines
  • Strong computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, etc.). Must be well-versed in Excel
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse communities and sectors
  • Access to a vehicle with a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance (regular travel in the local area is required)
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent
  • Safe food handling certificate
  • Knowledge of Student Nutrition Program operations and impacts would be an asset
  • French language skills would be an asset

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to do computer work for significant periods of time
