Crane Operations Supervisor

We are currently seeking applicants for the position of CRANE OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR to join our fast-paced, dynamic team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
The Crane Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the safe and efficient operation of crane at construction sites, ports, or other locations where crane services are required. This role involves supervising crane operators, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, scheduling maintenance, and coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Management:
- Oversee daily crane operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards and efficient workflow.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of crane operators and riggers.
- Provide training and guidance to crane operators to ensure safe and effective operation.
Safety Compliance
- Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of cranes and related equipment.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial and federal regulations regarding crane operations.
Maintenance Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate regular maintenance and inspections of cranes.
- Ensure that all equipment is in proper working condition and promptly address any mechanical issues.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs.
Operational Planning
- Develop and implement operational plans and schedules for crane usage.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to plan crane operations.
- Optimize crane usage to maximize efficiency and downtime.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, including logs, reports, and documentation.
- Prepare and manage budgets related to crane operations and maintenance.
- Handle procurement of necessary parts, equipment, and supplies for crane operations.
Customer Service
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding crane services.
- Address any concerns or issues raised by clients in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality crane services.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in crane operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Certifications
- Valid crane operator certification.
- Certification in rigging and signaling is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of crane operation principles, safety regulations, and maintenance procedures.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and software related to crane operations.
- Ability to work and multi task in a fast paced environment.
