Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Preparer to join our financial services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate tax returns for individual and business clients, ensuring compliance with current tax laws. This role offers an opportunity to work in a professional environment where your expertise in accounting and financial analysis will contribute to client success. The position requires proficiency with various accounting software and a strong understanding of financial processes.

Duties

  • Prepare T1, T 2 tax returns for personal, self employed individuals, and corporations
  • Analyze financial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other bookkeeping tools to compile financial data
  • Conduct account reconciliation and auditing procedures to verify data integrity
  • Assist clients with tax planning strategies and provide recommendations for tax savings
  • Manage accounts payable, payroll, and budgeting tasks as needed
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with clients to gather necessary documentation and answer inquiries related to their taxes
  • Support bookkeeping activities including account analysis, reconciliation, and financial reporting

Requirements

  • Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation roles
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other relevant tools
  • Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Knowledge of auditing processes and financial services industry standards
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, account reconciliation, payroll, budgeting, and investment management
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple client accounts effectively
  • Certification or prior experience in tax preparation is preferred but not required
  • Strong communication skills to explain financial concepts clearly to clients
