Toromont Cat is looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician to join our shop at St. John's, NL As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for servicing a particular line of Caterpillar equipment and components in our shop. Your day will include planning, trouble shooting and repairing, as well as, preparing necessary service reports for customers. We are looking for people who are interested in diverse product range. Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic team player who will focus on safety and customer satisfaction in every job.

In a typical day, YOU will:

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors at all times, in support of Toromont's Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using Caterpillar testing equipment
  • Repair and service Caterpillar and all heavy equipment within the established standards
  • Prepare accurate service and repair reports in a timely manner
  • Maintain excellent customer relations through frequent communication
  • Undertake assignments as required in support of customer needs 

Must-haves for this role:

  • Post Secondary education in a field related to heavy equipment mechanics, truck and coach mechanics, diesel engine mechanics or a related mechanical field 
  • Minimum 2+ years of working experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy engine equipment 
  • Red Seal license (421A or 310T an asset) 
  • Valid drivers license
