Job Overview
Applicants must hold a valid Gas B & C Certificate or have clear plans to obtain one in order to be eligible for this position.
At BC Furnace, we pride ourselves on delivering good service and reliable heating solutions across the Lower Mainland. Our team thrives in a professional, supportive environment where experienced technicians are trusted to take ownership of their work. Much of our focus is on furnaces, boilers, and hot water tanks, but not limited to just these systems. We value safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship, ensuring every project is completed to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC systems — we service all equipment types, though much of our work typically involves furnaces, boilers, and hot water tanks.
- But not limited to servicing and maintaining air conditioning units, fireplaces, and other HVAC applications as required
- Apply advanced skills and knowledge to accurately diagnose issues and implement effective solutions
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure efficiency, reliability, and compliance with safety standards
- Conduct mechanical repairs related to HVAC systems as needed
- Operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters for electrical testing and welding equipment for component repairs
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of all work performed
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry best practices
- Respond promptly to field service requests across various property maintenance environments, with particular expertise in furnace-heavy systems
- Manage a hybrid workflow: while not 100% on-site, technicians must visit the facility to drop off/pick up equipment and attend job sites when bookings are scheduled
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and collaborate to deliver high-quality service outcomes
Qualifications
- Gas B & C Certificate (mandatory) or demonstrated plans to obtain certification
- Proven experience as a service technician in HVAC or related fields such as construction or appliance repair
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in HVAC design, schematics interpretation, and equipment repair
- Familiarity with refrigeration systems, ammonia refrigeration, boilers, and plumbing systems
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools including ohmmeters and welding equipment
- Experience working with HVAC/R systems in a field service capacity
- Knowledge of property maintenance procedures and general mechanical troubleshooting
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required
- Additional certifications in HVAC/R or boiler operation are preferred but not mandatory
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Please note We are not seeking apprentices at this time. Only candidates who already possess the required qualifications and hands-on HVAC experience will be considered. This position is integral to maintaining safe, efficient heating and cooling environments across our facilities. We value dedicated professionals committed to quality workmanship and continuous improvement.
