Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our optical team. The ideal candidate will assist patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, provide exceptional customer service, and support the overall operations of the optical department. Duties

  • Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses based on their prescriptions, lifestyle, and preferences
  • Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame size
  • Verify prescriptions and ensure accurate order processing using optical software such as Epic
  • Fit, adjust, and repair eyewear to ensure proper fit and comfort for patients
  • Educate patients on lens options, lens coatings, and proper eyewear maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized optical dispensary area
  • Manage retail sales transactions, including processing payments and insurance claims
  • Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Support inventory management by tracking stock levels and ordering supplies as needed

Experience

  • Prior experience with optical equipment, laboratory procedures, or optical dispensing is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care is beneficial
  • Experience in retail sales or customer service roles, especially within healthcare or optical settings
  • Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record systems is advantageous
  • Background in retail management or supervisory roles can be a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and assist patients effectively

This position requires a commitment to providing excellent patient care while supporting the operational efficiency of our optical services. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, technical proficiency, and a passion for helping others see clearly.

Job Types: Seasonal, Internship / Co-op

Contract length: 1-3 months

Pay: $17.50-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 – 6 per week
