Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and highly organized Transportation Specialist to manage the logistics and transportation needs of our building renovation projects. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery and pickup of construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites, ensuring schedules are met, costs are controlled, and safety regulations are followed.
This position is key to keeping our renovation projects running smoothly and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily transportation schedules for materials, equipment, and tools across multiple renovation job sites.
- Work closely with project managers, warehouse staff, and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Monitor and track deliveries to ensure they arrive as scheduled, resolving issues proactively.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory in transit, and vehicle usage.
- Schedule and dispatch company drivers or third-party carriers as needed.
- Inspect transportation equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers) for compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and all applicable safety policies.
- Support the sourcing and negotiation of carrier rates and contracts.
- Optimize transportation routes to reduce fuel usage, time, and labor costs.
- Assist with coordinating removal of demolition waste and equipment returns when projects conclude.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business, Construction Management, or related field is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or materials coordination, preferably in construction or building renovation.
- Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and job site logistics is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation/logistics software (e.g., TMS, GPS tracking).
- Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating logistics for multiple construction or renovation sites.
- Knowledge of local vendors, communication, rental equipment providers, and delivery practices.
- OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.
