Air Canada is looking for a dynamic and experienced
Technical Specialist, Analytic Data Solutions
to join our Customer & Loyalty Analytics team. This pivotal role involves architecting, building, optimizing, and maintaining pipelines, data marts, web applications and AI agents to enhance our analytics capabilities. Reporting to the Director – Travel Marketing & Loyalty Spend Analytics, you will be instrumental in ensuring the robustness and effectiveness of our analytics assets.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in data management and best practices for data products. A successful candidate will seamlessly blend advanced technical skills with strategic insight, driving data initiatives that align with business objectives and propel organizational performance.
Responsibilities
- Pipeline & Data Mart Development: Design, build, optimize, and maintain scalable data marts to support various analytics initiatives.
- Web Application & AI Agent Management: Optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain the Streamlit web applications and Dataiku AI Agents, ensuring peak performance and reliability. This empowers our business stakeholders with on-demand access to analytics, data science, and Gen AI processes and outputs.
- Machine Learning Operations (MLOps): Own the deployment and ongoing maintenance of data science models in production environments.
- Data Infrastructure Management: Own the development and optimization of data infrastructure, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Data Governance: Implement and uphold best practices for data quality, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all analytics data assets.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize data processes to improve efficiency and reduce latency.
- Best Practices Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on best practices in data management for all analytics assets, including DevOps methodologies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, driving innovation in data engineering practices.
Qualifications
Education:
- Degree: A master's degree in Data Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology or Computer Science.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
- Strong knowledge of SQL for database management.
- Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Azure, Snowflake).
- Experience with data science and AI tools (e.g., Dataiku).
- Experience with Web Application (e.g., Streamlit)
- Experience with LLM Prompt Engineering.
- Familiarity with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and tools.
- Understanding of data modeling and data architecture principles.

- Strong business acumen with a clear understanding of analytics needs.
- Insight into business processes and the impact of data on decision-making.

- Excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities.

Experience
- Years of Experience: 5-10 years in data management, data engineering, or related roles, with a focus on aligning data strategies with business goals.
- Relevant Roles: Experience in data analysis, database administration, or software development is beneficial.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with specific industries (e.g., Travel, Hospitality, Marketing, Loyalty) enhances business acumen.
