Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and patient In-Person Coding Tutor to teach children and youth foundational to intermediate coding skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, can simplify complex concepts, and inspires creativity and problem-solving through technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver in-person coding lessons to students
  • Teach beginner to intermediate concepts using platforms such as:
  • Scratch
  • Python (intro level)
  • HTML/CSS
  • JavaScript (basic)
  • Robotics or block-based coding (where applicable)
  • Adapt lessons to meet different learning styles and abilities
  • Create engaging, age-appropriate projects and activities
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate student progress with parents or program coordinators
  • Support students with problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring coding or computer science
  • Comfortable working with children and youth
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of one or more coding languages or platforms:
  • Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or similar
  • Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Background in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is an asset (not mandatory)

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Ontario curriculum or STEM frameworks
  • Experience working with children with diverse learning needs
  • Creative approach to project-based learning

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $18.05-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 4 per week

Work Location: In person
