Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and patient In-Person Coding Tutor to teach children and youth foundational to intermediate coding skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, can simplify complex concepts, and inspires creativity and problem-solving through technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver in-person coding lessons to students
- Teach beginner to intermediate concepts using platforms such as:
- Scratch
- Python (intro level)
- HTML/CSS
- JavaScript (basic)
- Robotics or block-based coding (where applicable)
- Adapt lessons to meet different learning styles and abilities
- Create engaging, age-appropriate projects and activities
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate student progress with parents or program coordinators
- Support students with problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience teaching or tutoring coding or computer science
- Comfortable working with children and youth
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of one or more coding languages or platforms:
- Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or similar
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Background in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is an asset (not mandatory)
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with Ontario curriculum or STEM frameworks
- Experience working with children with diverse learning needs
- Creative approach to project-based learning
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $18.05-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 4 per week
Work Location: In person
