Reporting to the Foreman, the General Laborer supports the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of shallow underground utility infrastructure. This position requires hands-on experience in underground utility construction, including excavation, trenching, material handling, and backfilling.

How You'll Add Value
 

• Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
• Assist crews with the installation of shallow utility infrastructure
• Excavate and backfill trenches manually or using small equipment while maintaining proper grade and compaction
• Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment for daily operations
• Shovel test holes, mark locations, and safely expose live utilities 
• Spread gravel, compact backfill, and restore work areas to project specifications
• Set up, remove, and manage traffic control signs and devices; direct traffic safely when required
• Signal equipment operators to ensure safe and precise movement of materials and equipment
• Maintain a clean and organized worksite free of debris and hazards
• Operate small tools and equipment such as plate tampers, jackhammers, saws, or skid steers (as authorized)
• Perform other duties as required
   

What You Bring
 

• Valid Class 5 Operator's License; with Driver's Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
• 2+ years of experience in an underground construction environment
• Physically able to safely and consistently lift up to 40lbs regularly

Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required.
