We currently have 2 immediate openings for Janitorial Cleaners / Custodians to join our Facilities Team.

We're seeking reliable, hardworking individuals with a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to quality work.

Position Overview

As part of our Facilities and Custodial Team, you will play a key role in ensuring our school remains spotless, safe, and ready for daily operations and events.

This is a part-time, permanent position, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys a consistent routine in a supportive environment.

Primary Responsibilities

You may be required to perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:

Daily Cleaning & Maintenance

• Perform detailed cleaning of classrooms, offices, hallways, washrooms, and public areas.
• Dust and sanitize surfaces including desks, counters, ledges, doors, and windowsills.
• Sweep, mop, and auto-scrub floors in all designated areas.
• Vacuum and deep-clean carpets on a routine schedule.
• Clean and restock bathrooms, ensuring a high level of hygiene.
• Empty garbage and recycling bins throughout the building.

Periodic & Seasonal Duties

• Strip and wax floors (seasonally).
• Assist with carpet extraction and floor care programs.
• Clean glass doors and windows as assigned.
• Support special cleaning projects and summer deep cleaning.

Facility Security & Event Support

• Assist with event set-up and take-down (tables, chairs, staging, etc.).
• Perform final building lock-up procedures at the end of the shift, ensuring all lights are off and doors are secured.
• Report any damages, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to the Facilities Manager.

Teamwork & Communication

• Work independently and as part of a team to meet daily cleaning standards.
• Communicate effectively with team members and manager.
• Maintain a respectful and cooperative attitude with staff, students, and visitors.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous cleaning or custodial experience preferred, especially in schools or large facilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established cleaning protocols.
• Physically capable of performing repetitive tasks, bending, lifting (up to 40 lbs), and standing for long periods.
• Reliable transportation is required — must own a vehicle, as public transit is approximately 3 km away.
• Must live within 25 km of the school.
• Clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required prior to start date).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Flexible to assist with occasional weekend or event shifts.

Position Details

• Employment Type: Part-Time, Permanent
• Hourly Wage: Starting at $19.20/hour, plus $0.30/hour premium for weekend shifts
• Hours:
• Weekday shifts: 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday)
• Weekend shifts: Between 4–8 hours, scheduled as needed (rotating weekends) between 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
• Work Location: On-site at King's Christian Collegiate (North Oakville)
