Who we need

Reporting to the Director, Data Engineering & Operations, we are hiring a Data Architect to join our Data and Technology team. As our new Data Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and execution of our data ecosystem. This newly created role is designed to bring technical leadership and strategic vision to how we design, implement, and maintain complex data engineering solutions across the enterprise. You will lead the buildout of scalable, secure, and high-performing data pipelines and frameworks that enable analytics, automation, and innovation across the organization.

Your work will bridge business and technology, ensuring our data infrastructure not only meets immediate needs but also sets the foundation for future growth, reduced technical debt, and seamless integration across systems.

This is a hybrid role that requires working in the office three days a week.

Who you are

You are a technically driven problem-solver with a passion for building elegant, scalable data solutions. You may be a senior data or software engineer ready to take the next step into architecture, or an architect who still enjoys getting hands-on with code. You thrive in environments where strategy and execution intersect, balancing big-picture thinking with a willingness to dive deep into the details. Curious, collaborative, and confident in your craft, you bring both the technical expertise and the communication skills to turn complex business needs into clear, well-structured data systems that drive real impact.

What's in it for you

Impact and innovation. You will play a key role in shaping how data powers decisions and experiences across Scene+. Working within a modern, cloud-based environment and alongside multiple architecture teams, you will design and build the systems that enable scalability, speed, and security across our growing ecosystem. Your work will directly influence how we collect, structure, and leverage data to drive meaningful insights and product innovation.

Leadership and ownership. You will work on complex, high-impact projects that span multiple technology teams and vendors. You will contribute to the technical strategy and architecture of enterprise-scale data initiatives while remaining hands-on in design, development, and implementation, giving you the ability to set direction and the freedom to build.

Growth and collaboration. Scene+ fosters a culture of collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence. You will work closely with senior architects, project managers, and business leaders to bring data-driven solutions to life. Surrounded by industry-leading technology and a team that encourages experimentation and continuous learning, you will have the flexibility to explore new ideas, expand your architecture expertise, and shape the future of data engineering at Scene+ a national scale.

You will:

  • Design and build enterprise-scale data solutions. You will collaborate with enterprise and solution architects through Scene+ architecture ceremonies such as Front Door and ARC, as well as ad hoc working sessions, to design scalable, secure, and high-performing data architectures. You will translate business requirements into technical solutions that enable analytics, automation, and real-time data access.
  • Mentor a growing team. You will work alongside a team of data engineers, providing technical direction, coaching, and oversight across multiple complex projects. You will set development standards, guide solutioning, and ensure consistency and quality in delivery across teams and vendors.
  • Build. You will split your time between architecting and building, designing end-to-end data solutions while also developing and maintaining key components of the systems you design. You will dive into the codebase when needed, helping your team troubleshoot, optimize performance, and bring your architectural vision to life.
  • Collaborate across the enterprise. You will work closely with project management, business stakeholders, and partner teams to plan, design, and deliver cohesive data solutions. You will collaborate with data scientists and BI analysts to ensure architectures support the entire data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation to analytics and activation.
  • Ensure compliance and security. You will partner with IT Security, Fraud, Legal, and Privacy teams to ensure all data architecture and solutions are compliant, secure, and aligned with organizational standards and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement. You will identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, and optimize Scene+'s data ecosystem, reducing technical debt and enhancing scalability. You will bring curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills to every challenge in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

You have:

  • The technical depth. You have a strong foundation in data engineering and architecture, with the ability to design, build, and optimize scalable solutions across modern cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. You understand data warehousing, lakehouse, and real-time architectures, and how to connect them into cohesive enterprise systems.
  • The problem-solving skills. You thrive on technical challenges, navigating ambiguity and making sound decisions in large, interconnected systems. You know how to break down complex builds into manageable components, balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
  • The governance and security awareness. You understand the importance of data governance, privacy, and compliance frameworks and know how to embed them into the architecture of every solution.
  • The communication and collaboration skills. You communicate clearly and confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike. You can explain complex concepts simply, influence decisions through logic and expertise, and bring diverse teams and perspectives together to align on outcomes.
  • The leadership. You naturally guide others—sharing knowledge, setting standards, and helping data engineers grow. You lead by example, combining technical credibility with approachability and collaboration.

Join us.

We are a dynamic and agile organization that works collaboratively to anticipate and meet the business needs of our partners and the lifestyle needs of our members.
