Role Overview

The Junior Estimator / Junior Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Project manager with the full lifecycle of DSBG's luxury custom home construction projects. This includes assisting and working in conjunction with the planning, budgeting, team coordination, and quality control from pre-construction to project close-out. The Junior Estimator / Coordinator will assist with document control including meeting minutes, archiving and organizing files and sharing files with the project team.Estimation tasks include assisting the project manager in doing take-offs for creating overall project budgets and assisting in creating scopes of work for individual trade tenders.

Key Responsibilities

. Project Leadership & Strategy

  • Assist with the execution of high-end residential construction projects from start to finish
  • Support with defining project objectives, timelines, and deliverables
  • Work with the project manager to align each project with DSBG's commitment to craftsmanship and quality

  • Budget & Financial Oversight

  • Support and maintain in conjunction with the Project Manager detailed budgets and schedules

  • Track actuals vs. forecast; review with the project team on corrective actions when necessary
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager in reviewing, approving and documenting all project-related financials: invoices, change orders, contracts
  • Prepare bi-monthly Draw Requests and review with the Project Manager
  • Participate in budget review with Finance, Project Manager and Ownership quarterly
  • Contribute to project status in bi-weekly Level 10 (L10) meeting.

  • Construction & Site Management

  • Review and update project schedules with the Project Manager and Director of Construction.

  • Conduct periodic site visits to assess progress and quality and project needs
  • Support daily site coordination with Site Managers.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes and action items from project meetings.
  • Assist in material procurement and coordination of deliveries with vendors and site managers
  • Assist in creating sketches and mark-ups for RFIs, tenders and site coordination

  • Team & Vendor Coordination

  • Maintain communication between architects, designers, engineers, and trades in collaboration with the Project Manager

  • Support contract formulation and procurement
  • Coordinate invoicing, payment structure and safety documentation with vendors
  • Assist with trade performance reviews at project completion.

  • Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the secondary point of contact for clients and consultants.

  • Help prepare project updates and documentation to maintain transparency.
  • Coordinate close-out packages, warranties and assist with tracking and closing out post-construction deficiency and PDI

  • Risk & Compliance Management

  • Monitor project risks and assist in developing mitigation plans.

  • Assist with scheduling building inspections, engineer site visits, material testing and follow-up on associated reports

  • Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Maintain organized project records, reports, and meeting documentation.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of DSBG's project management systems.

Required Skills & Experience

DSBG welcomes motivated students or recent graduates eager to build their careers in high-end residential construction. Ideal candidates bring a combination of education, curiosity, and practical exposure to construction or project coordination.

  • Education: Diploma, certificate, or degree in Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Building Science, or a related field.
  • Some experience (1+ year) or co-op/internship exposure to estimating, coordination, or project management in residential construction.
  • Basic understanding or coursework related to the Ontario Building Code and custom home construction standards.
  • Basic understanding of architectural, civil, structural, interior design and mechanical drawings
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and construction budgeting software is an asset.
  • Ability to contribute effectively within cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Organized, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, high-quality building environment.
