Aon is looking for an Associate Director - Modelling, Consulting.

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Solutions & Technology Group (STG) within Aon Reinsurance, in Toronto, Ontario. As an Associate Director, you will report directly to the Director, Consulting.

What the day will look like

Development Services

  • Build and maintain insurance liability models, focusing on reserve and capital calculations for life insurance companies based on relevant regulatory standards, while considering management actions
  • Build and maintain financial asset models for use in balance sheet projections of financial services companies
  • Further the development of robust processes required for insurance company, such as financial reporting or pricing
  • Participate in the expansion of PathWise functionality as required or as requested by clients

Onboarding Services

  • Support the development of models and processes for companies transitioning to PathWise
  • Provide hands-on training for PathWise users
  • Develop independent training reference materials for PathWise users
  • Identify deficiencies in organizational processes and propose enhancements
  • Resolve issues as they arise during PathWise migrations, ensuring a positive initial user experience

Business Development Support

  • Engage in demonstrations to potential clients
  • Develop models specific to client requirements
  • Participate in industry, academic and internal research initiatives
  • Prepare and present on emerging topics relevant to the insurance and financial services sectors
  • Participate in industry and client conferences

How this opportunity is different

STG provides high efficiency computing software, consulting services as well as advisory services to financial intermediaries, primarily insurance companies. STG's high-performance software platform, PathWise, provides companies with the ability to easily model financial obligations without involved coding and is run on Graphical Processing Units (GPU), making it the fastest, readily available software platform currently in use in the insurance industry. STG's consulting services has focused primarily on actuarial analysis, reinsurance modeling and structing, reviews of hedging programs, and modeling of insurance liabilities and financial assets.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

Required Skillset

  • Over 7 years of experience in the life insurance sector, specializing in a modelling, valuation, consulting or pricing roles, with a focus on financial guarantees embedded in life insurance products, such as participating products
  • Strong experience in modelling or valuation of life insurance products across various reporting standards, such as IFRS17 and Risk-Based Capital (RBC)

Preferred Skillset

  • Proficiency in financial reporting standards within Asia-Pacific region, such as Hong Kong RBC, Singapore RBC, and IFRS17, encompassing insurance products like Participating, Universal Life, Indexed Linked, and Non-participating products
  • Understanding of financial assets including derivatives
  • Experience in models with Monte Carlo simulation
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts, with a preference for Python programming expertise
  • Fellowship or near fellowship status with the Society of Actuaries, or an equivalent qualification
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate extensive team collaboration and client engagement
