Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. This position plays a key role in supporting store operations, retail transaction systems, POS environments and backend integrations. The role blends scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and production support across Linux, Windows, network and retail POS ecosystems.

**MUST BE IN LONDON, ON as this is a hybrid position that requires work to be done in office

Responsibilities

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain automation tools for Flooid POS deployments, configuration updates, and end to end releases.
  • Create Python, Bash, Batch and Powershell scrips to support store rollouts and operational tasks
  • Use Ansible for configuration management and repeatable deployments.

Production Support & Incident Response

  • Support high-volume, customer-facing production systems across distributed store networks.
  • Diagnose issues involving POS apps, APIs, Microservices, and payment terminals under time pressure.
  • Interpret logs and traces across store devices, backend services, and cloud platforms.
  • Participate in on- call rotations and complete root cause analysis for incidents.

Store Systems and Retail Operations

  • Troubleshoot POS hardware (printers, scanners, cash drawers, payment devices).
  • Configure and support JPOS integrations
  • Work with retail transaction flows, offline mode and store-to-cloud connectivity.

Deployments & Configuration

  • Support deployments of POS software, services and configuration bundles
  • Use GIT to manage changes and collaborate on CI/CD workflows.
  • Document operational procedures, store system architectures, and deployment best practices.

Networking & Database

  • Apply networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewall/security groups and failover
  • Write and run SQL queries to assist with troubleshooting and and data validation.

Required Qualifications

  • Scripting experience with Python, Bash and Power/Shell/Batch.
  • Experience with SUSE Linux, Oracle Linux or RHEL.
  • Experience with Ansible-based automation.
  • Understanding of microservices, XML, JSON and API integrations.
  • Experience supporting or deploying POS systems in retail environments.
  • Ability to interpret logs and traces across distributed systems.
  • Experience in high-availability, high-volume production environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Flooid POS or similar enterprise POS platforms.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as OCI, AWS or Azure
  • Background in retail systems integration or store technology rollouts.
  • Experience contributing to Git-based CI/CD piplelines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
