Our company is looking for Maintenance Electricians for a Rail Infrastructure in GTA. The position in permanent full-time.

Maintenance Electrician – LRT / Urban Railway

Position Summary
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of electrical systems throughout the LRT (Light Rail Transit) / urban railway network. This includes stations, substations, track infrastructure, tunnels, traction power systems, lighting, signaling equipment, maintenance facilities, and all supporting electrical assets. The role involves preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, troubleshooting, inspections, and emergency response work.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on electrical systems across the LRT network: traction power (overhead catenary system or third rail, if applicable), substations, transformers, switchgear, distribution panels, UPS systems, station electrical equipment, tunnel lighting, signaling power circuits, and other related assets.
• Diagnose electrical faults using electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and high-voltage testing devices.
• Install, upgrade, and modify electrical wiring, conduits, grounding systems, distribution equipment, protective devices, control panels, auxiliary systems, and station electrical infrastructure.
• Conduct minor electromechanical work related to equipment maintenance: motor repairs, ventilation systems, HVAC support systems, control devices, and related equipment.
• Complete detailed work orders, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and repair documentation in compliance with internal standards, audits, and safety requirements.
• Respond to service disruptions and electrical emergencies, including after-hours call-outs, shift work, and urgent repairs.
• Coordinate closely with maintenance crews, operations staff, signal technicians, track teams, supervisors, and contractors to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
• Follow all electrical codes, safety regulations, railway procedures, lockout/tagout standards, and company policies.

Mandatory Requirements (Must-Have)
• Valid Electrician Construction & Maintenance
309A
License (compulsory).
• Proven experience as a licensed electrician (Journeyperson level), preferably in industrial, commercial, or infrastructure environments.
• Previous experience working with HV.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards, and best maintenance practices.
• Skilled in the use of electrical hand and power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments; ability to work safely around medium/high-voltage equipment, substations, and railway environments.
• Strong communication skills, documentation skills, and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
• Certification under a railway or transit safety standard, such as the TTC Worker Protection Code or an equivalent rail-transit protection program.
• Experience in railway, LRT, tram, or transit electrification systems: traction power, substations, trackside power, signaling power circuits, and related infrastructure.
• Knowledge of medium/high-voltage power distribution, control systems, breakers, protection devices, UPS systems, motor control centers, and SCADA environments.
• Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for work orders, asset tracking, and maintenance planning.
• Availability to work shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs in a
24/7
operational environment.
