About the Role:
AVL Manufacturing is seeking an experienced
Electrical Manufacturing Engineer
to support the production of integrated power-generation and energy-storage enclosures. This position acts as a critical bridge between
Electrical Design Engineering
and the
production floor
, ensuring manufacturability, efficiency, and quality across all electrical assemblies, wiring harnesses, and control panels.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on technical experience, problem-solving ability, and a continuous improvement mindset to drive production excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Troubleshooting:
Serve as the subject matter expert to resolve complex electrical, control system, and instrumentation issues on the production floor, minimizing downtime and ensuring safety. - Process Development & Improvement:
Develop, implement, and validate procedures for testing, assembly, and functional validation of control cabinets and integrated systems. - Documentation & Revision Control:
Manage and update redlines for electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Bills of Material (BOMs) using SolidWorks PDM to maintain compliance and accuracy. - Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with production, quality, and design teams to meet project goals, solve challenges, and improve manufacturability. - Standard Work & Lean Efficiency:
Conduct time studies on electrical assembly processes and implement lean improvements to boost productivity and consistency. - Tooling & Fixture Design:
Create 3D models and detailed designs of specialized jigs and fixtures using SolidWorks to enhance accuracy and ergonomics in wiring and assembly tasks. - Manufacturing Documentation:
Develop clear and comprehensive Work Instructions (WIs) and SOPs for complex electrical assembly and quality control procedures. - Industry 4.0 Initiatives:
Support the integration of automation, robotics, and data analytics to enhance AVL's manufacturing capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering
,
Manufacturing Engineering
, or a related field. - 3–4 years
of relevant industrial experience in Canada, ideally in heavy equipment, power systems, or complex machinery manufacturing. - Proficiency in
SolidWorks
and
AutoCAD
(mandatory). - Familiarity with
lean manufacturing
and continuous improvement principles. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
