Job Description

Montreal Neon Signs, manufacturer and Installer of indoor and outdoor Signs, is looking for a system administrator to ensure the well-run operation of it's IT Department. This person will provide IT support for the department's daily operational activities. The system administrator will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. They will also be responsible for maintaining IT support for approximately 100 workstations & devices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware (in person, email or over the phone).

Develop and implement IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, and service provision.

Define and implement backup schedules and archiving solutions.

Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including Linux and Windows servers, Windows and Mac PCs, various operating systems, IP phone systems, hardware, software, peripherals and mobile phones.

Work with decision makers to define business and systems requirements for new technology Implementations.

Asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.

Maintain regular written and in-person communications with Management, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

Ensure appropriate level of technology, operating system and system software currency for existing and future business needs.

Direct research on potential technology solutions in support of growing infrastructure efforts.

Keep current with the latest technologies.

After hours and on-call support will be required.

Work with VOIP, mobile and IT vendors to report, resolve issues and requests.

Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.

Any other tasks relating to the beneficial evolution of this position and the company.

Skills

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Technical Support environment.

Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning, development, upgrades, and hardware/software refresh.

Extensive end user application support experience with the ability to administer a 100+ node network including firewalls.

Demonstrated knowledge of advanced network troubleshooting techniques.

Experience with Cisco appliances and setting up secure remote access for users.

Demonstrated knowledge of Linux and Windows servers, Windows and Mac desktop products.

Ability to negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.

Bilingualism, French and English, oral and written.

Job Conditions

Minimum 42 hours per week.

Annual salary, paid bi-weekly.

Needs to be flexible to work longer hours in order to complete projects, including after hours and weekends.

Group Insurance Benefits Plan.

On-site position only (no remote work).

Full-time, Monday to Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Salary based on experience.

Job Type: Full-time
