The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary
We are seeking a Grader Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Grader Operator is responsible for safely and productively operating a 16ft motor grader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the 16ft motor grader in a safe and efficient way in accordance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments.
  • Cleaning and lubricating the motor grader; refilling all fluids as required.
  • Complete logbooks and daily reports on safety issues and production.
  • Use two-way-radio, and horn signals to communicate with other operators and ensure safety.
  • Use a grader according to operating practices, policies, and procedures to place and grade materials such as sand, aggregates, and small blasted rock to maintain and construct roads, parking lots and pads.
  • Maintain winter roads.
  • Manage water as necessary.
  • Monitor gauges, and other indicators to make ensure the motor grader is working properly, report discrepancies.

Job Conditions

  • 3+ years of experience operating a 16ft grader at a mine site.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must demonstrate good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to adapt and work in an inclusive work environment.
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks.
  • This position in based in Geraldton, Ontario.

Certifications

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Heavy Equipment Operator training or related experience required.
  • Ontario Surface Common Core training is an asset.
