Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for underground construction projects, reviewing project plans and specifications, conducting site visits, and collaborating with project managers to develop competitive bids. The role requires strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and cost estimation, as well as excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Prior experience in underground construction is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for watermain, sewer, and road construction projects.
  • Analyze project scope, materials, labor, and equipment requirements to determine accurate costs.
  • Prepare and submit timely bids to potential clients.
  • Collaborate with project managers, coordinators, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy in estimating and bid preparation.
  • Monitor and review project costs to maintain profitability and efficiency.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
  • Assist with procurement of materials and subcontractor services.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an estimator in watermain, sewer, or road construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, methodologies, and regulatory standards.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and locates.
  • Valid G driver's license and ability to travel to job sites throughout the GTA.

Preferred Experience

  • At least 2 years in construction estimating.
  • Minimum 1 year of project management experience.

Contract Details

  • Full-time, fixed-term contract for 6 months.
