As NAIT continues to grow its student body and lead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionate individuals to help support current and future industry professionals and become part of Canada's leading polytechnic.

The Culinary Arts program provides students with relevant, high-quality culinary training. The program will introduce students to the fundamental skills of cooking, including contemporary hot and cold presentation, pastry art and international cuisine.

The program is currently recruiting for a casual instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidate will

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
  • Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
  • Respond to student issues
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
  • Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
  • Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021, NAIT's Strategic Plan and NAIT's Academic Plan as identified by the institute
  • Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
  • Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Strong knowledge of computers

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a related Diploma or Journeyperson certificate or equivalent required, with an Inter-Provincial Red Seal required.
  • CCC certification is considered an asset
  • Minimum 5- 8 years of recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson certificate or equivalent
  • Preference will be given to those that have a minimum 5 years experience in a Formal Dining setting
  • Previous teaching experience is a strong asset

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).

Remuneration: $99/Scheduled Instruction Hour. (Classification – Instructor Casual Credit).

All casual instructor assignments are covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
