About the Role

We're seeking a highly motivated and self-driven
Data Engineer
to join our growing data team. This contract role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works independently, and proactively seeks answers to drive small-scale builds and data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Blob Storage, on-premises systems, and Azure Functions
  • Lead small build components and initiatives from requirements to deployment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions
  • Develop and optimize data models for OLTP systems and relational databases
  • Write efficient SQL queries and scripts for SQL Server (Oracle experience is a plus)
  • Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms
  • Use Python and Shell scripting for data transformation, automation, and integration
  • Ensure data security, compliance, and governance best practices are followed

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services, especially ADF and Azure Functions
  • Proficient in SQL and relational databases (SQL Server required)
  • Solid understanding of OLTP systems and data modeling principles
  • Strong programming skills in Python; Shell scripting experience
  • Experience with data analysis and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) implementation
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in Azure
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools
  • Knowledge of data governance and security best practices
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric
