Production and Materials Planner

Reports to: Operations Manager

Translates customer forecasts and purchase orders into jobs in MRP system, reviews the jobs to schedule the processes, assigns the jobs and processes to individuals and work centre teams. Monitors the flow of jobs against the capacity of work centres, makes adjustments to schedules and capacities in consultation with Manager and other parties. Reviews requirements for raw materials against supply, purchases raw materials from pre-determined vendors according to criteria established by the production manager and the controller, sources new or unique materials, manages the receipt and drawdown of raw material inventory.

Specific Accountabilities:

· Engages in daily Production meetings with other Team members to ensure schedules are being met and on time delivery demands are met.

· Provides accurate information/reporting to Management as required.

· Leads the process of planning and organizing workflow(s) according to previously established sequences to meet desired outcomes.

· Assign tasks to individual departments and workers to ensure

· Coordinates, monitors and expedites the movement of parts, supplies and material to ensure products are shipped and received on schedule.

· Identify inefficiencies in daily output from individuals and work centres, analyze the root cause and develop plan to meet the targets.

· Acts as a liaison between Production, Engineering, and Logistics to ensure a smooth flow of production.

· Reports the status of work in progress, materiel availability and routine production challenges to ensure that personnel, equipment, material and services are provided as needed.

· Reviews and maintains various metrics on the progress of work, materiel used, rates of production and other production information, using manual or computerized systems.

· Support meetings with vendors, customers, OEMs and other parties as required.

· Identifies and initiates improvements to production process.

Technical Requirements

  • · Associate degree or equivalent plus minimum of 2 years of experience in a planning role or 5 years of experience in a planning role.
  • · Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, decision making, interpersonal, negotiation, oral and written communication skills.
  • · Working knowledge of PC's and the productivity software package (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • A working knowledge of Jobboss would be preferred

The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to associate's degree or equivalent with specialized training. The person has excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral, planning and monitoring costs of work packages. Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is six months to one year.
