Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain modern motion control software libraries that interface seamlessly with drive systems and automation components. Ensure high code quality, modularity, and performance for use in industrial applications running on edge devices.
- Collaborate within a cross-functional Scrum team consisting of software, controls, and system engineers to translate product requirements into reliable and scalable software solutions. Contribute actively to sprint planning, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Integrate and validate motion control functionality on real hardware, including testing with drive trains and edge platforms. Diagnose and resolve complex issues across software and hardware boundaries, ensuring robust operation under industrial conditions.
Skills:
- Strong software engineering foundation
with proficiency in Python and modern C++ (C++17/20), including a deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean code principles. Experience developing reusable libraries and APIs, ideally experience in creating libraries and sdks for other developers. - Expertise in motion control and drive technology
, including knowledge of servo drives, inverters, and general motor control principles. Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFINET, or CANopen, and a solid grasp of control theory, kinematics, and the interaction between software and electromechanical systems. - Experience with edge and embedded systems
, particularly Linux-based or RTOS environments. Understanding of how to design performant and reliable software for hardware-constrained systems, with optional experience in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) or deployment on industrial edge platforms. - Proficiency in agile development practices
within cross-functional Scrum teams. This includes working collaboratively with hardware, controls, and system engineers, contributing to sprint planning and code reviews, writing automated tests, and continuously improving software quality through modern engineering practices.
Office Location: This is an in-person position based in Vaughan, ON, Canada. The role requires occasional travel to the factory in Bramalea, ON, as well as to Germany.
