Job Summary:
The Drone Pilot will be responsible for the planning, execution, and data management of UAV survey and inspection missions. This role combines fieldwork with technical processing, ensuring accurate, high-quality data capture and deliverables that meet project requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong UAV piloting experience, technical aptitude in data processing, and a commitment to safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute UAV flights for surveying, mapping, and inspection projects, ensuring safe operations in compliance with Transport Canada regulations.
- Conduct pre-flight site assessments, equipment checks, and flight planning to achieve accurate and efficient data capture.
- Operate UAVs to collect imagery, LiDAR, and other spatial data for topographic mapping, construction monitoring, and project documentation.
- Process UAV data into orthophotos, point clouds, and digital surface or terrain models using industry-standard software.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) checks on collected data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain UAV systems, firmware updates, and basic troubleshooting.
- Contribute to improving UAV procedures, workflows, and data management practices.
- Participate in staff training or mentoring related to UAV operations and safety best practices.
- During off-season, pilot may be required to support conventional field surveys.
Required:
- Transport Canada Advanced Operations Drone Pilot Certificate.
- Over 100 hours of drone flights
- Strong technical understanding of photogrammetry and/or LiDAR workflows.
- Experience using DJI or equivalent professional UAV platforms.
- Good spatial awareness, attention to detail, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Valid driver's licence.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $27.00-$34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
